Walk-In Clinic Info
Walk-in clinic is for minor illness and/or injury that began within the last three (3) days. A minor illness/injury can be diagnosed rather quickly without extensive lab work or in-depth procedures. If an illness/injury or condition has lasted longer than three (3) days or has the potential of requiring extra time and/or procedures in the clinic, it will require a scheduled appointment with one of our providers.
If you are unsure of what type of care you need, please call and speak with one of our providers or a member of our nursing staff to determine whether or not a walk-in is appropriate or if more time should be dedicated for you during a scheduled same-day appointment.
Our goal is to provide prompt, safe and efficient medical care to all of our patients so in an effort to decrease your wait times if you come for walk-in, we ask that you please follow the above guidelines so we can help ensure all patients are able to receive the medical care they need.
As always, same-day appointments are encouraged and preferred to ensure that everyone is seen in a timely manner.
Prescription Refills
Please call your pharmacy when you are in need of a prescription refill. Your pharmacy will contact the clinic on your behalf to obtain authorization from your physician for prescription refills. Most prescriptions are refilled electronically and will be filled upon receiving your request.
Please note: If you call the clinic for a prescription refill, please understand that the process takes time. Please allow at least 48 hours for your request to be processed. An office visit may be required (to monitor your overall health and condition) prior to refilling your medication. We are not able to refill medications we have not prescribed.

Chronic Care
Chronic Care Management (CCM) Services
Chronic Care Management (CCM) services include at least 20 minutes of clinical staff time directed by your physician or another qualified healthcare professional, per calendar month with the following required elements:
- You must have multiple (two or more) chronic conditions expected to last at least 12 months, or until death
- These chronic conditions place you at significant risk of death, acute exacerbation/decompensation or functional decline
Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS)
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recognizes the importance of taking care of the patient all of the time, not just at the point of care. Therefore, CCM services are typically provided outside of face-to-face patient visits and focus on:
- A continuous relationship with a designated member of the CCM team
- Support for chronic diseases to achieve health goals
- 24/7 patient access to care and health information
- Preventative care
- Patient and caregiver education and engagement
- Timely sharing and use of health information
- Medication reconciliation
Medicare requires initiation of CCM services to take place during a face-to-face visit with your healthcare provider (physician, certified nurse midwife, clinical nurse specialists, nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants). This can be during an annual wellness visit, initial preventative physical exam or other face-to-face visit for new patients or patients not seen within one year prior to the commencement of CCM services (the initiating visit is not part of the CCM service and is separately billed). Otherwise, enrollment of eligible beneficiaries may take place by phone.
Common Chronic Conditions (Among Medicare Patients)
- Alzheimer’s and Dementia
- Acquired Hypothyroidism
- Heart Failure
- Depression
- Chronic Kidney Disease
- Cataracts
- Anemia
- Diabetes
- Ischemic Heart Disease
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Osteoarthritis

Prenatal, Post-Delivery & Child Visits
Prenatal Medical Care
The goal of prenatal care is not only to provide the best care for the pregnant woman and the unborn child but also to prepare the mother-to-be for the delivery of a healthy baby.
During prenatal visits, tests are performed on both the mother and the baby to assess any potential risks, treat any maternal or fetal complications, and keep an eye on the growth and development of the fetus. In addition, counseling and guidance are provided regarding various aspects of pregnancy, including weight gain, exercise, nutrition, and overall health.
A typical prenatal visit may include any or all of the following:
- Weight measurement
- Blood pressure measurement
- Measurement of the uterus to check for proper growth of the fetus
- Physical exam of the mother to identify problems or discomforts, like swelling of the hands and feet
- Urine test to measure sugar and protein levels. This can indicate diabetes or preeclampsia (a condition characterized by high blood pressure, proteinuria, and swelling due to fluid retention). However, swelling does not need to be present to make the diagnosis. And having swelling does not always mean a woman has preeclampsia.
- Fetal heart rate measurement (usually beginning in the 10th to 12th week of pregnancy)
- Prenatal screening tests like blood tests to check for anemia.
Labor and Delivery
During the last months, your office visits will include discussions about labor and delivery. Since Goodland Regional Medical Center is not currently providing labor and delivery services, your healthcare provider will discuss your options for establishing care at an alternate facility where you will deliver. Establishing this care is essential for the continuity of care of both you and your little one.
Post-Delivery Care for Mom
Postpartum care is an ongoing process after your delivery. Our healthcare providers will ask you to follow up with us within three weeks after delivery and continue to receive follow-up care as needed, including a comprehensive checkup/evaluation by 12 weeks postpartum. The goal is to spot possible problems early since women have a higher risk of serious complications during the weeks after giving birth than at any other time during pregnancy.
Well Child Visits
Well-child visits and recommended vaccinations are essential and help ensure children stay healthy. Children who are not protected by vaccines are more likely to get diseases like measles and whooping cough. These diseases are extremely contagious and can be very serious, especially for babies and young children. These diseases have been outbreaks in recent years, especially in communities with low vaccination rates.
Well-child visits are essential for many reasons, including:
- Tracking growth and developmental milestones
- Discussing any concerns about your child’s health
- Getting scheduled vaccinations to prevent measles, whooping cough (pertussis), and other serious diseases.
