24/7 Emergency Department
The Emergency Room is open 24 hours 7 days a week. It is staffed by Physician Assistants at all times with a doctor available as needed. The staff is able to treat any symptom or condition that may arise. GRMC’s emergency department also has Avel eCare Telemedicine available. Avel eCare can give the GRMC staff members extra support to improve the quality of healthcare that is provided here in our rural community. (see below) The Emergency Room staff also has up to date training and has the ability to stabilize a patient so that they can be transferred to a higher level of care, if appropriate. Our goal in the ER is to make the communities we serve healthier while giving compassion, safe patient centered care to every patient and family member that comes through the ER doors.
Avel eCARE Emergency enhances care by providing: Access to board-certified emergency physicians 24 hours a dayConnects rural communities to highly trained specialists. Activation of emergency transport teams as early as possible. Additional support during multiple emergencies. Fewer transfers so patients can stay close to home. Collaborative approach allows local caregivers to focus exclusively on patient care.

Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) Program
Our sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) program provides a safe place for people to come that’s private and appealing. Our specially trained SANE nurses care for sexual assault victims with dignity, help them plan their next steps, and collect evidence. According to Kansas Statutes, everyone has the right to a sexual assault examination. Patients 18 years of age or older have a right to choose whether they report to law enforcement; this means patients can be examined, have evidence collected, and be treated without notifying law enforcement. The KBI will hold the evidence collected for 20 years should the patient ever change their mind and later decide to report to law enforcement.
