Dr. Altman graduated from the University of Minnesota School of
Medicine in 1992 before moving to California, where he completed his
internship, residency and fellowship in cardiovascular disease at
Stanford University. He returned to Minnesota and completed a two-year
cardiac and peripheral interventional fellowship at Mayo Clinic in
Rochester, as well as Lennox Hill Hospital in New York City.
Dr. Altman has been with Colorado Heart & Vascular in Lakewood,
CO since 2001 and was instrumental in bringing peripheral interventions
to his affiliated hospitals (GRMC included). His special interests
include cardiac, renal, iliac and femoral stenting. He is currently
pursuing carotid stenting. Dr. Altman is the principal investigator on
numerous clinical trials and has published extensively, most recently in
the New England Journal of Medicine. He was also a featured operator in
an international symposium on peripheral interventions and has been
invited to speak at many leading-edge conferences in the industry.
When not working to improve patients’ lives, he enjoys outdoor
activities such as skiing and hiking with his two daughters. You might
also catch him cooking global cuisine, playing golf or swimming laps
early in the morning.
