Mrs Flaska is a certified Physician Assistant with a Masters Degree in Medical Science from Yale University in Connecticut. She also later completed a Masters Degree in Public Health, with a focus on Health in Crisis, at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Maryland.
She has been practicing in Emergency Medicine since 2011, and joined SLY to focus on providing excellent care to rural communities in 2023. Prior to that she worked with a Denver based group that staffed a Level 1 trauma center as well as several smaller community hospitals for about two decades.
She had previously been the course director of Emergency Medicine at the University of Colorado PA program, and continues to work with students on their rotations. She also had the opportunity to serve as the Medical Director of a small hospital in Kenya for a year. She enjoys working with people in smaller communities who are self reliant and willing to take ownership of their own health.
When she is not in the Emergency Department, Janka enjoys spending time with her two boys, one dog, one husband and three chickens, the latter of whom became part of her life once she started working in Goodland and met a bunch of cool farmers. She likes biking, skiing, and gleaning tips on how to best be a Denver based urban farmer from her local Goodland ER nurse colleagues who know how to do it right.
